💜Charity 🏃‍♀️Runners 🏃‍♂️Edition💜Volume 2

Will there be a Volume 3? #InquiringMinds

Welcome to the September 2024 issue of the FUNdraisingGeek Newsletter! The premiere newsletter for #FundraisingTips, #SocialMediaTips, and #FeaturedCharities

With the Chicago Marathon coming up, this Charity Runners Edition features some incredible, inspiring charity FUNdraisers, specifically raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. #GoTEAM 💜💚💜

You will find a few #FUNdraisingTips and #FUNdraisingIdeas along the way, and I hope you are inspired to go out and watch a marathon!

Coach Mark is a a rockstar #FUNdraiser! 💰

Coach Mark is in his 21st year of fundraising for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and his lifetime total is over $200,000!! 💰💥👏

If you’re wondering how he does it, one of his biggest efforts is an annual yard sale. Friends and family donate items to sell for a 2 day in person sale, and Mark has expanded his yard sale to Facebook Marketplace. #FUNdraisingTip

This spectator sign is one of my favorites! #TodayIsNotThatDay

Erica runs Chicago for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. #GoTeam 💜

The goal is one day, to find a cure. Erica is running and FUNdraising to honor of all individuals who are battling blood caners, in honor of her mom - a two time survivor - and in memory of her Uncle Frank who she knows is cheering on her every step. Every single donation to LLS helps save a life with breakthrough therapies for blood cancers, as well as other types of cancer.

If you see Erica out on the Chicago Marathon course, shout out a “Go TEAM!” Also, if you see any runner with their name on their shirt, let them know you see them. It’s quite a boost to hear someone yelling your name on the course. 📣 💥💪

Inspirational (and funny) signs go a long way to boost a runner’s spirits!

Clint does all this riding and running in memory of family and friends affected by cancer, and to celebrate the survivors. He does a great job at personalizing his FUNdraising page (⬆️⬆️⬆️see above⬆️⬆️⬆️) with the many stories he shares. Clint also sends an email to friends, family, and previous donors with his running and riding adventures. #FUNdraisingTip 🚴‍♂️💜🏃‍♂️💜🚴‍♂️

Clint rides with Gavin who has been cancer free since 2010!! 🙌

“No matter how hard all the training, the rides, and the events turn out to be, it will be no comparison to the challenges that people with blood cancers (or any cancer) and their families face every day. Together we can make a difference!”

It’s okay to get a little irreverent!

Wondering how she does all that FUNdraising every year?🤔 Rhonda gets creative! This year she offered a yoga 🧘‍♀️ class at a local sports bar! #ShareYourSkills #FUNdraisingIdeas 💡

But never say “You’re almost there!” 🤬 👎 👿

Having completed 3 marathons and 2 triathlons to raise money for LLS as part of Team in Training, Angela decided to give cycling a try! 150 miles on a bike is nothing compared to going through chemo and radiation treatments. She raised over $450 by creating a Facebook FUNdraiser! #FUNdraisingTip

Angela’s husband was diagnosed with Follicular Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2014. He was treated with Rituxan and radiation therapy and has been in remission since 2015. Early funding for Rituxan research came from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Angela also rides for their dog, Zazzles.🐾

Zazzles is doing well and says: “Thanks for reading!” 🐾💜🐾
