FUNdraising Geek, February 2023

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the FUNdraising Geek Newsletter! The premiere newsletter for #FundraisingTips, #SocialMediaTips, and #FeaturedCharities

#FUNdraisingTips

If you are fundraising for a specific event and/or cause, you likely have a fundraising page on the charity's website. First things first: Personalize your fundraising page! Tell your donors why you support this particular cause.

  • In honor or in memory of someone close to you

  • A local charity and you want to support your community

  • A group you volunteer with and want to do more by fundraising for the cause

  • #WhatIsYourWhy❓

For example, I started participating in the Hustle up the Hancock for the Respiratory Health Association in 2010.  My reasons for continuing to climb 94 floors every February have varied throughout the years.

  • Getting off the couch πŸ›‹ and moving my body

  • Beating the midwinter blues

  • The challenge of raising $1,000 as a lung health championπŸ’°

  • Inspired by those affected by lung disease

  • In memory of my mom who passed away from pulmonary fibrosis in 2019 πŸ’œ

  • Supporting a local organization dedicated to promoting lung health and clean air in Chicago and the state of Illinois.

ALSO, don't forget to personalize your page with a photo of your honored hero or a #SillySelfie 😎

#SocialMediaTips

Post. Post! POST!  Don't be shy. Get it out there! Your supporters want to see that sh*t in their facebook feed.

  • They want to click that link in your instagram profile.

  • They want to see your fundraising progress.

  • Post your link. Post photos. πŸ“·

  • Your followers can block you if they're really annoyed. #Whatever πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Also, set up that Facebook Fundraiser.  They have been a game changer for me!

  • It's quick and easy.πŸ‘

  • Donors get a charitable donation receipt.πŸ‘

  • Facebook DOES NOT take a cut of fundraisers for approved charities.πŸ‘

  • Friends on facebook see who's supported you and get inspired to donate.πŸ‘

  • Use the #PowerOfSocialMedia for good.πŸ‘
